For a flight that leaves before about 7am, the choice from the Tablelands is a pre-dawn pickup or a night at a Sydney Airport hotel. Both work. This page is the honest case for the second one, including when it does not stack up.

Not usually, no — and we would rather say so. You are adding a hotel room to the same transfer fare. What you buy with it is a night’s sleep and the removal of the one part of the trip most people dread: leaving home in the dark.
It stacks up best when the flight is very early, when there are small children involved, when the group is large enough that a pre-dawn muster is genuinely difficult, or when the alternative is a 11:50pm pickup from the far side of the district. It stacks up worst for a single traveller on a mid-morning flight, where an ordinary pickup is simpler and cheaper.
The transfer fare is the published one — from Goulburn that is $379 for one or two seats, the same figure as a direct run to the terminal, because it is the same drive. The hotel is yours to book; we simply drop you at its door in the evening instead of at the terminal in the morning.
Most Sydney Airport hotels run their own terminal shuttle, and several are close enough to walk. That is worth checking when you book the room, because it is the part that decides whether the whole plan is relaxing or not.

The transfer fare is identical, because it is the same drive. What you add is the room. Whether that is worth it depends on how early the flight is and who is travelling with you.
